On a Piece of Equipment that Makes Our Little Family Tick:
It looks like a backpack, but our adventure family wouldn’t be able to go without this little indispensable pack.
This is Taylor Mayd, our three-legged pup, more commonly known as: Tay-Tay, Boo-boo, Boo-boo-bear, Squidge, Princess baby girl, the list goes on. You know how it is. When she was a puppy, she was hit by a car around seven months old, and the previous owners let her walk on a broken limb long enough that it had to be amputated. But when Katie rescued her at eleven months old, she already knew almost as much life on three legs as she had on four. And now, approaching twelve years old, she wouldn’t know what to do with a fourth leg.
Although missing a front left leg, she has more energy than most dogs her age, and people always seem shocked when we tell them she’s going on twelve years old, even though her grey hairs show signs of her seniority. Despite her energy, she wears out more quickly than other dogs given a high weight bearing requirement on the front shoulders and can only hike about a mile and a half on a good day.
This is where the K9 Sport Sack Knavigate comes in. It changed the game for us and allows us to take Taylor on more frequent and longer hikes than ever before. We both feel that she shouldn’t miss out on the adventure just because she can’t walk as far and the spins, jumps, and zoomies she gets when she hears the words, “You’re coming” always put a smile on our faces. She loves to go wherever, really, and it’s such a comfort knowing that she can go, and we can easily manage her in a pack that supports her weight across the hips as well as the shoulders, ventilates well in the heat, protects our little solar panel from the sun, and shields her from the occasional rainstorm.
Thankful that Katie and I have had the ability to share so many otherwise impossible memories with our sweet baby girl.
Until next time,
